Born in 1982 in Kisii district, ERICK AYOTI paints and lives in Kisumu city with his wife and their two lovely kids. After primary school, he had to join Mwangaza Visual Art school – Kisumu, in lieu of a secondary school owing to lack of school feels. His determination saw him graduate from secondary school as a private candidate last year. We congratulate him! He lives with his wife and their two lovely kids in Kisumu
He attributes his talent discovery to his mother who at a tender age, intoned on him to keep drawing, challenging him to be more creative and accurate in his sketches. His teacher, Jost Pieper from German, taught him how to draw and paint using watercolours.
His paintings are built up in acrylic and watercolours – in deep expressive and poetic hues. He finishes with acrylics on a pallet knife bringing out his subjects in often thematic compositions. His focus in this exhibition is depicting the plight of children and women in the society.
He has participated in several group exhibitions in Nairobi at the Village Market and in Kisumu Museum. He has also exhibited at Portland, USA.
